Jay Slater clues in full as detective calls for mystery men to come forward (1)

The mystery of what exactly happened to Jay Slater on the morning of Monday, June 17 as of yet remains unsolved - but physical clues could help bring about some much-longed-for answers.

Jay, 19, vanished while holidaying with friends in Tenerife where the group attended the three-day NRG music festival. On the evening of Sunday, June 16, Jay, of Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, headed back to a house in Rural de Teno Park with two other festivalgoers he'd met that day - a 40-minute drive or 11-hour walk from the Playa de las Americas holiday apartment where he'd been staying.

At approximately 8.15 am the next morning, Jay's friend Lucy Mae Law, who'd been part of the holiday group, received a phone call from the apprentice bricklayer, who informed her he 'didn't know where he was' and needed water before his phone battery depleted. Jay hasn't been heard from since.

Although his whereabouts remain unknown, there have been a few clues that point toward what exactly happened after Jay's phone died.

During a press conference held today, Detective Mark Williams-Thomas - a private investigator who assisted in the Nicola Bulley case - pleaded for the two men with whom Jay Slater went to the Airbnb after the rave on Sunday night "come forward with crucial information".

The detective said: "The family have provided me with an in-depth insight into what has happened in the hours leading up to his disappearance. I have, to date, not been able to speak to a large group of witnesses. But there are two key people to date that I have not spoken to. These are the two men that took Jay back to the holiday rental in the hills. Those two men have spoken to the police and they are now back in the UK."

CCTV image

A CCTV image shared by Jay's family shows a possible sighting of him in Tenerife. The grainy image was captured in Santiago del Teide approximately 10 hours after his last confirmed sighting in the village of Masca, nearly four miles uphill.

Discussing the image, mum Debbie Duncan said: "Someone has come forward to say they saw someone who they thought was Jay walking back down the road sat on a bench. He was with two men looking a bit worse for wear, and they were by a church, this guy has come forward and told the police about it and they are looking into it.

"We don't know if it was Jay for sure, but it's a start. They said it was about 6pm which is 10 hours after he was seen by the lady in the village. But if it was him what was he doing there and who are these two men?" They are showing the picture to people in the village along with posters of the missing teen to see if they can jog people's memories.

Dancing vid

A clip of Jay in a Tenerife nightclub shared on TikTok showed him dancing the night before he vanished. The clip, which lasts two minutes and 40 seconds, was filmed at 1am in the early hours of Monday, June 17.

Captions on the vid include 'Jay Slater is seen in this video very disoriented' and 'The end footage is potentially a key piece for info - did he really have his top still on?' Later images seem to suggest that he did have his top on and that it may have just been the lighting that made it seem as though he didn't.

Music rave

A picture shows a 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer at a rave on the eve of his disappearance. Jay, who was last seen wearing a grey sports top with a light green strip on the shoulders and carrying a black bag, left the event with two new friends and went with them to an Airbnb in a mountainous nature reserve. He vanished the following day.

Laughing Snapchat

A joyful Snapchat video taken of Jay the night before his disappearance shows him enjoying himself in the Arona area of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The clip, taken at about 8.35 pm on Sunday, June 16, was filmed by relative Isabelle Price, and has since been shared in a Facebook group dedicated to finding Jay, which has clocked up more than 40,000 members.

As per the caption: "This is a clear video of what Jay was wearing the night he went missing. All of our family and friends are so worried, we're all just praying and hoping he gets found soon unharmed."

Mountainside snap

In an interview with Sky News, Lucy revealed how Jay had shared a Snapchat image of the Rural de Teno Park property he'd visited after the festival, which showed a mountainous backdrop. Shortly after Jay's disappearance, an American woman drove Lucy up into the mountains where they 'drove around all day' in search of him.

Drawing clues from the pic, Lucy looked out for a lamp and some flowers photographed by Jay and managed to find the house in question. She shared: "I knocked on the door and there were two people there."

The occupants advised Lucy that Jay had gone out for a cigarette before heading back inside to tell them he wanted to go home. Lucy continued: "They told me he'd spoken to the next-door neighbours and they'd told him there was a bus every 10 minutes back down to Los Cristianos.

"The bus stop was right next to the house. So obviously if he'd gone to get the bus he wouldn't have got lost because it [the stop] was visible from the front door."

Mysterious final Snapchat

The last Snapchat picture shared by Jay shows a hand holding a cigarette at a property in the Buenavista del Norte area at 7.30 am on Monday morning - right before his 8.15 am phone call to Lucy.

Remarking that there are 'so many questions that are unanswered', Lucy observed: "I can't understand why he would come out of the house and then decide he was going to walk. I think he maybe set off walking with battery and had not realised how far the walk actually is."

Last known location

Using data, the Mirror has created a map revealing Jay's last known movements, in a remote area in the northwest of the Tenerife, more than ten miles from the popular Guía de Isora resort.

A Facebook group dedicated to sharing updates on the ongoing search states that officers have been stopping motorists as part of their efforts, showing drivers photos of Jay and asking whether or not they have any information on his whereabouts.

Mum Debbie told Lancashire Live: "I know the last place he spoke to his friend Lucy from was in the mountains and I think the police have got a more precise location now. I imagine they're also speaking to the people whose place he went back to. Once I’ve spoken to the British consulate again I’ll be clearer about what I’m going to do but I imagine we will head up north nearer the spot Jay was when he disappeared."
